Kinjo Kiku Co. (Kinjo Foundation) donates the Agriculture Museum (“the Fujukan”, 952.8m²) to the University of the Ryukyus (then located at the former Shuri campus).

Faculty of Agriculture sets up a Fujukan management committee, and appoints Dean Tetsuo Takara as the first chairperson.

With the University’s relocation to Senbaru campus, a planning committee for a common-use specimen resource center is formed.

1985

Construction of the University Resource Center completed.

Appointed representatives of each faculty form the management committee of the University Resource Center, and establish the Center policy. The Center keeps its original Fujukan name.

The new Fujukan opens after completing specimen relocation from the old Fujukan and faculties. Prof. Seiji Azuma from Faculty of Agriculture is appointed to be the first director.

The Fujukan is raised to the status of the University Museum.
